Mears Ranch Residence
WR&D designed this farm-style house to look like it had been around since the turn of the Twentieth Century. The owners wanted a classic ranch look with a wrap-around porch, stone chimney, and a detached garage. The 20-acre property also features an outdoor pool, pool house and horse barn.
The development of this project required overcoming several site challenges. The property is nestled in a narrow valley between two hillsides with few flat, buildable areas, and has a creek running through it. The main residence design maximizes second floor living space and preserves as much natural vegetation as possible. It was also necessary to dig into the adjacent hill in order to make room on the property for the detached garage.
