West Jordan Animal Shelter

West Jordan, UT

Wald, Ruhnke & Dost architects was retained to design a new animal shelter for the City of West Jordan, a growing suburb of Salt Lake City. The new shelter was necessary to replace the existing facility that was old and too small to accommodate the growing demand for animal shelter services.

The new facility was built adjacent to a new community softball complex. The facility's close proximity to the family sports complex is expected to increase the number of animal adoptions.

The 5,000-square-foot design has a store-front feel and is designed to accommodate dogs, cats, birds, small mammals and some reptiles. The site also provides a corral to accommodate horses or other large animals.
