The multi-phased expansion and remodel of a 56,000-square-foot hotel property consisted of both the design and construction of a new 29-room building as well as the renovation of the existing hotel facilities. The goals of this project were to transform the property's dated appearance so that it complemented the historic architecture in downtown Monterey, and to increase the property's size, capacity and offerings to provide more opportunities for revenue.
To construct the new 29-room addition, it was necessary to demolish a restaurant located adjacent to the property. The project also involved an exterior and interior remodel of the existing guest room units, which were modernized to match the newer units featuring Mission-style architecture and Craftsman detailing. Ninety-three uniquely designed guest rooms include one king bed or two queen beds, and most rooms now offer fireplaces. One naturally lit meeting room provides nearly 645 square feet of flexible meeting space.
