Carmel High School Modernization
Carmel Unified School District retained Wald Ruhnke & Dost Architects to provide architectural services for the modernization of Carmel High School. The campus is comprised of approximately 26 buildings, some of which date back as far as the 1940s. Campus improvements included technology upgrades, new construction, as well as repairs and renovations to existing buildings.
The modernization required finish improvements for flooring, lighting and cabinetry, site and building improvements for ADA compliance, improvements to sidewalks, courtyards and parking lots, exterior lighting for aesthetics and safety, interior lighting upgrades for improved energy efficiency, and standardizing furniture, finishes and fixtures throughout the district.
This project was completed in multiple phases to ensure staff and student safety during construction as well as reduce disruption to instruction and class schedules. Extensive construction occurred during limited instructional breaks.
